Graphics are
good -- and bad! Graphics can add to the eye appeal of
a website, but they can really slow down the load time. A slow
loading site is not one that makes a lot of sales because people
simply WILL NOT WAIT for your site to load -- unless you're the
only person in the world selling a particular product or service!
Let's
look at an example. Oh, yeah. Make sure you have your sound
turned on. Click here for a Flash Graphic Example.
Now
let me ask you a question. How much value or information did you
get out of that?
Your
visitor came to your site seeking information. They came to your
site via the Internet -- why? Because of speed. The Internet gives
customers and potential customers the ability to get information
fast. That flash graphic actually did nothing more than slow the
customer's information search.
GOOD
GRAPHICS
Good
graphic images can be a silent seller. Think for a moment about
one of my clients -- a Tattoo Parlor. What does that conjure up
in your mind? Now, what if I told you this is one of the most reputable,
clean and sanitary tattoo parlors anywhere? How can you portray
that to an Internet surfer? With a graphic. Click
here to see how.

OPTIMIZED
GRAPHICS
To insure
your graphics load fast, they must be optimized for Internet use.
Use of photos is almost a requirement for a marketing site. Photos
of the business or the business owners adds a personal touch that
helps those potential customers more easily step toward making
a purchase.
The
problem lies in these super great digital cameras we have available
to us today. We take a high quality photo and download it to our
computer, and it may be anywhere from half a megabyte to 3 megabytes
in size.
With
80% of Internet surfers still using 56K modems, those photo sizes
are deal killers. Resizing photos helps but, in many instances,
the photos must be optimized beyond resizing. Using the 56K as
a guide, photos should be smaller than 56K. A page on this site
containing numerous graphics designed for page speed by use of
optimization and absolute URLs is the Portfolio
of Sites.
NetVentures
Unlimited, Inc. has the necessary software to create graphics and
optimize photos, including image slicing when necessary.
Pricing
for this service is $50 US per hour. The time required depends
upon a number of things. Please contact us with your specific needs
for a cost estimate.
