Potential clients come to us who already have a website, but are getting very few hits or cannot find their site on some or all search engines.

Optimizing a site for search engines requires an analysis through the eyes of a search engine robot (spider). While most search engine robots utilize different algorithmic equations, they do share some basic requirements.

Content is King in the search engine world. So also is site construction and the proper placement of codes and keywords.

Google is still the Big Boy on the block, even with its current Page Rank issues. A recent client asked for an analysis, and we analyzed the main landing page of the site according to current Googlebot requirements.

Here's what the analysis showed:

Word Count in the TITLE AREA should be increased.

Word Count in the META KEYWORD area should be decreased.

Keyword Prominence in META KEYWORD area should be increased.

Keyword Frequency in LINK TEXT area is 0. It should be increased.

Word Count in LINK TEXT area is 0. It should be increased.

Keyword Prominence in LINK TEXT area is 0. It should be increased.

Keyword Frequency in ALT area is 0. It should be increased.

Keyword Prominence in ALT area is 0. It should be increased.

Keyword Frequency in BODY TEXT area is 0. It should be increased.

Word Count in BODY TEXT area is 53. It should be increased.

Keyword Prominence in BODY TEXT area is 0. It should be increased.

Total Keyword Frequency is 4. It should be increased.

Total Word Count is 117. It should be increased.

Most time keywords repeated in a row: 0 - GOOD

Same color text as background: No - GOOD

Use of Hidden Input area: No - GOOD

Use of Meta Refresh: No - GOOD

Use of frames: No - GOOD

Use of Javascript: Yes - Consider change if possible

Use of Controls: No - GOOD

Use of VBSript: No - GOOD

Of course, the REAL REPORT shows suggested changes rather than just the words increase or decrease.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

The report above shows a website that is NOT SEARCH ENGINE FRIENDLY at all. The webmaster used a mapped graphic for links to other pages on the site, and did not use an ALT tag for the graphic.

Because of the mapped graphic, there are NO LINKS for the search engine robot to assess. In addition, several pages on the site have the SAME title. The primary keyword for this page is partially applicable to the site.

You see, this site is a local business serving a local community. The primary keyword contained the name of the state which, in essence, through this site into search engine competition with every other similar site in the state. Niche marketing was ignored.

Can this page be fixed? Yes. But -- it would be simpler and cheaper to destroy it and replace it with an optimized page.

Optimized pages take considerably longer to create. You construct the page. Then you analyze it. You make changes. You analyze it. You make changes. You analyze it. And so on and so on until it passes analysis.

Landing Page Analysis - $100.00 US
Primary Page Analysis - Depends on number of pages to be analyzed but a ballpark figure would be $75.00 US per page.
Site Analysis - Depends on number of pages and depth of analysis. Usually we will provide an estimate of hours required and use a sliding scale for per hour charge. The per hour charge will not exceed $50.00 US.
